Pawtucket, RI-Another solid start and a couple of big swings push the Worcester Red Sox of Pawtucket over the .500 mark. The Sox hit back to back home runs in the bottom of the 2nd. First, Josh Ockimey hit his second home run of the year making the score 1-0. Then Bryce Brentz crushed the first pitch he saw over the centerfield fence. Mike Miller, who remains one of the hottest hitters in the league, drove in the Sox' 3rd run of the game with an RBI single in the 6th. Miller is now hitting .400 with an OBP of .520.

The score was 3-0 in the 8th with runners on the corners when Syracuse rightfielder,Gregor Blanco hit what should have been an inning ending double play to short, but shortstop Tzu-Wei Lin couldn't handle it allowing Tomas Nido to score, which made the score 3-1 Sox. Syracuse would add another run later that inning on an RBI single by Danny Espinosa to leftfield. Brentz threw a bullseye to home plate to throw out David Thompson, but Sandy Leon couldn't hang on to the ball.

The story of this game though was Sox starter, Erasmo Ramirez. He gave up a leadoff single to start the game then retired the next 5 batters. He was mixing pitches all night and his fastball topped out in the low 90's. He pitched a total of 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits. He had 5 strikeouts and didn't walk anyone.

Jenrry Mejia picked up his International League leading 3rd save. It was of the 4 out variety. He picked up 3 Ks, didn't give up a hit, but he did hit a batter.

Michael Chavis was 0-2 with 2 walks. He did make a couple of outstanding plays at secondbase. Sandy Leon was 0-3 and is now hitting .111 with an OPS of .269.

Tim Tebow was 0-3, including a strikeout to end the game. The former Heisman Trophy winner is now 3-25 in AAA with an OPS of .385. I don't think he'll be playing at Citi Field anytime soon. The Sox take on the Mets again tonight at 6:05 at McCoy. Chandler Shepherd will take the mound. He will try to redeem himself from his first start of the season last week these same Mets. In that outing he gave up 5 runs in just 5 innings.

273 games until WooSox baseball.
