The Worcester Red Sox won't be taking the field until 2021, but that doesn't mean the fans of the team will have to wait until then to get pumped for baseball in Kelley Square. Last week, the team started selling the official Worcester Red Sox jersey. The hottest selling item in Worcester since Coney Island hot dogs began making their journey to hungry Worcesterite's stomachs 101 years ago. The jersey was sold out in a matter of days, but have no fear they are back in stock at PolarPark.com.
Today the team announced that they will be holding two "Worcester Red Sox Preview Nights" this season at McCoy Stadium. The first one is on May 18th and will include a meet and greet with Worcester's own Rich Gedman, who is the current PawSox hitting instructor. The second night is on June 1st and the always entertaining Oil Can Boyd will be there to entertain the fans.
In addition to the meet and greet fans who purchase the $36 ticket will be treated to a private all-you-can eat buffet and a presentation from the ball club about the "future of Polar Park and baseball in Worcester." Both games are on Saturdays and will include post game fireworks. I might have to attend both nights. Rich Gedman is such a cool, down to Earth guy, but the game on June 1st is against the Syracuse Mets who have this exciting young prospect named Tim Tebow that a lot of people are talking about. You can purchase tickets to the Worcester Red Sox Preview Nights here: PawSox.com
It's great to see that the team is getting the city excited about the new ball club. I'm sure we will be seeing and hearing more from them as we get closer and closer to April 2021.
